I hate that mistake as well. I also don't enjoy it when people mix up their, there and they're. I had 2 Korean 12 year old exchange students understanding the differences in these 3 words in under 10 minutes. So what's the excuse for people who actually have English as their first language?
some learning disabilities such as dyslexia make it hard for the person to see the difference when they write it down. So some people do have an excuse but I do think that a TV shows or the general public should be able to distinguish the differences.
